Canon EF-S 18-55MM f3.5-5.6 IS STM II
Covering the equivalent of 29-88mm on a 35mm camera, this light and compact Canon EF-S 18-55MM f3.5-5.6 IS STM II lens is ideal for general photography, giving wide angle, standard and short telephoto perspectives.
Four stops of image stabilisation give you much more scope to shoot in low light too. The 18mm is a moderate wide-angle that is great for landscapes, architecture and environmental portraiture. The 55mm end is a short telephoto lens ideal for compressing perspective and taking portraits or closing in on details.
This 18-55mm lens contains aspherical lens elements for sharp, high contrast images, even at full aperture and the Super Spectra Coatings also combat reflections from image sensors and internal lens surfaces as well as maximising light captured and maintaining high contrast. A closest focusing distance of 25cm gives great opportunity for closeup photography too.
The rounded blades of the aperture of this lens give a pleasing, soft quality to out-of-focus areas of your image, helping to emphasise the main subject.
Optics are made with 100% Lead-Free Glass and lens is supplied with front and rear caps.
One of the main attractions of a DLSR camera is its ability to capture outstanding images. However you also need a great lens to do its job too. With its quick and quiet Stepping Motor autofocus the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM allows you to create images that are beautifully sharp with striking colour and contrast. Canon’s superb Image Stabiliser is also on hand to assist with image sharpness reducing camera shake on still shots and during video capture.
How do you get the best out of a kit lens? Think of the lens as two lenses in one. If you have a kit lens of typical focal length, 18-55mm, then treat it as an 18mm and 55mm lens in one. The 18mm is a moderate wide-angle that is great for landscapes, architecture and environmental portraiture. The 55mm end is a short telephoto lens ideal for compressing perspective and taking portraits or closing in on details.
